Dr. Liggett has been community-oriented throughout his professional career; conducting many dental mission trips, founding the Weekend Dental Clinic and Free Extraction Day, organizing discussions for the local dental community to better recognize/prevent child abuse and more. This past weekend, River Valley Smile Center sponsored a community, family event hosted By La Raza, 92.3 celebrating Cinco de Mayo. The events took place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 7 at Fort Smith Park.
The celebration hosted live music, food vendors, bounce house inflatables, dunk tank and other fun activities. The event provided an opportunity for community members to celebrate Cinco de Mayo together in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
Cinco de Mayo is often mistaken for Mexican Independence Day, which is celebrated on September 16. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army’s unlikely defeat of French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
We would like to give special thanks to our staff volunteers for all their work this weekend for the Cinco de Mayo celebration. Not to mention Dr. Liggett and Heather who made this all come together so smoothly. Dr. Liggett was such a good sport and volunteered fearlessly for the dunk tank. His two girls also took a turn at it!
