What can you do if you have chipped your veneer? Are you required to simply replace the whole thing, or do you have other options? At River Valley Smile Center, we are here for all your dental needs, including repairing or replacing damaged veneers.
Many Veneers Can Be Repaired
As with the repair work on any dental construction, the specific steps you’ll need to take hinge largely on the degree of the damage. For chips or cracks that are not too significant, we can use a specialized dental resin to repair the veneer.
We’ll have you come in, and we’ll closely examine the damaged veneer. We’ll clean the surrounding area and then carefully apply the resin to the damaged area. Don’t worry: we carefully work with the resin to ensure that it perfectly matches your veneer’s coloration. This means that, once the repair work cures, it will be virtually indistinguishable from your existing veneer.
When Do You Have To Replace a Veneer?
Of course, there are times when repair simply isn’t a viable option. If, after a close and careful inspection, we determine that using the dental resin to repair the veneer won’t suffice, we may suggest that you have the veneer replaced altogether.
If you take this route, we will carefully measure your teeth to ensure that the new veneer is a perfect fit. Then we will construct a replacement veneer. When it is ready, we will ask you to come back to our office, where we will carefully remove the damaged veneer. We will inspect the tooth to ensure that it is still structurally sound, and then we will affix the replacement veneer using the same procedure that we used when installing the original. Once the veneer is affixed and the adhesive has cured, you will be able to use it just as you would your natural teeth.
Here at River Valley Smile Center, your smile is our top priority. If you have damaged a veneer, please contact us right away.
